For children in poverty, wearing worn and dated or inappropriate clothes, or being under-dressed in hot or cold weather, can undermine their self-confidence as well as physical health, and dampen enthusiasm for school and healthy social interaction. We lend dignity to families in need by providing quality used clothing and household items in a clean, caring environment. As a result, thousands of Amphi children have left the Clothing Bank ready to go to school the next morning, dressed for success! An All-Volunteer Staff Our volunteers collect and sort more than 40,000 articles of clothing each year. We launder every single item on-site, and if we can't get a white shirt white, we don't put it out. Families Welcome Students and their parents, siblings and other family members living in the home, including grandparents, are referred to the Clothing Bank by their schools' nurses. Selecting Clothing Each student and family member may select up to five outfits: girls and women - dresses, suits, and separates (blouses, skirts, pants); boys and men - suits, jackets, shirts and pants. They can also add pajamas, nightgowns, bathrobes, coats, shoes and accessories. Boys' and girls' socks and underwear, all ages, are purchased or donated new, along with other personal items, such as toiletries. Students are provided with five pairs of socks and five sets of underwear. We Carry Household Items, too Towels, sheets, and blankets; dinnerware, glassware and flatware; cookware, kitchen supplies and appliances; household appliances; and baby equipment and toys.
