Heart of Amphi Awards
The Amphitheater Public Schools Foundation is accepting nominations for the Heart of Amphi Awards, which will be presented at its annual Gala on March 5th. The awards will honor a school district volunteer, an area business or business leader, and a school district staff member who have exemplified the Foundation’s mission of promoting academic excellence by enriching the education, development, and/or well being of students either in a particular school or throughout the school district.

The first Heart of Amphi Award was presented in 2008 to Johnnie Thews who, as a volunteer, has served as the director of the Amphi Clothing Bank for the past 16 years. She was honored for leading an effort that last year served 750 families and distributed over 40,000 items.
Amphi Foundation programs include the 21st Century Classrooms Initiative, Amphi Clothing Bank, MathPLUS+ Tutoring, emergency prescription and medical assistance, support for student academic competitions, athletic fee waivers, and scholarships. Sequels Upscale Resale in Oro Valley is owned and operated by the Amphi Foundation and all proceeds from the boutique support the Foundation’s programs.
